As book publicists, we see huge value in an author’s website/blog. It serves as central hub where media, reviewers, and fans go to learn more about an author, his or her book, expertise, events, social media presence, etc. and hopefully becomes a place where viewers will be inspired to return and build a long term relationship.
Here are some items we recommend authors include on their website. Of course, each website should be customized to the book, topic, and author’s personality.
- Make it easy for people to purchase the book. Display your book cover on the home page and offer retail links to make it easy for people to order through the store of their choice (Amazon, B&N, etc.). Congratulations to Smith Publicity’s 2015 Writer’s Scholarship winner!
We are pleased to announce our second scholarship winner: Reza Harris, a student at San Francisco State University. Harris was chosen from over 300 applicants. Harris said, “ I am very grateful to be selected as the winner. Applying for this scholarship was a challenge; I had to write the essay in the midst of all my studies for classes. There were times when I didn't feel so confident about my chances against so many competing students, but my better judgment told me to stick it out and take the chance. I am thrilled to learn that chance paid off.”
Smith Publicity offers an annual one-time $1,000 scholarship to one high school or college/university student in the United States. The scholarship is awarded to the student who submits the best essay on persuasive writing. We chose this topic because it’s an important part of the services we provide for book marketing.
