Does Book Publicity Create Book Sales?

Publicity can make many good things happen for authors such as establish a dynamic author brand, create speaking opportunities, increase business and attract prospective clients for business authors, and lead to offers for film rights and traditional publishing deals.

But some think book publicity and book marketing does’t equate to book sales. While book sales are difficult to predict and a book has to hold up on its merit, Smith Publicity services often do cause increased sales, sometimes amazing increases. Take a look at just a few excerpts from our hundreds and hundreds of testimonials.

—————–

In our opinion, Smith Publicity was largely responsible for our sold-out edition; not an easy task with a specialized and expensive book. Our publishing company had worked without external publicists in the past, but this new book created a unique challenge, as a very high-quality and expensive Limited Edition …

Brian Kehew, Curvebender Publishing

My work with Smith Publicity was foundational in creating a platform for my nonfiction writing, and particularly, Farming Soul: A Tale of Initiation. According to Amazon statistics, it sold more copies in the first four months than the previous four years with the other small press.

Patricia Damery, author Farming Soul: A Tale of Initiation

…Book sales steadily increased, but of greater importance to me is that the book got into the hands of people who would benefit from reading it. And my publicist was amazing. Smith took me from a hobby to a career, and from a dream to a reality. There is no way to put a price tag on that.

Sylvia Peterson, author of Laura and Me

Signing on with Smith Publicity was the single most important event since the publishing of my book. Sales of the book increased thanks to a dynamic Smith publicist. She was able to get the book reviewed in The Huffington Post newsletter as well an appearance on Huff-Post Live, all on the same day! I also expanded my business with Smith Publicity by entering their international publicity program.

Smith Publicity did an outstanding job of publicizing my book. Within three months of beginning work with them I appeared on prominent radio talk shows and national TV, my book created a ‘buzz’ in the political world, and my book sales increased so dramatically that I had to order a hurry-up second printing

Throughout the two-month campaign my publicist produced several TV, radio and print media interviews, which have resulted in increased book sales! Working with the Smith Publicity team was definitely a rewarding experience and I look forward to working with them in the future.

Our publisher, New Harbinger, reported sales were through the roof, we had second printing and our book stayed in the top five of all of the book’s we have published. A previous book which you also have been indirectly promoting, was a top seller.

dozens and dozens of newspaper and online articles that helped to spike sales of my book. Even when our campaign was over, Smith continued to forward requests for review copies and interviews–and even a request from Steve Forbes for a signed copy!

Dinah Bucholz, author of The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook

I have nothing but praise for the team at Smith Publicity. It was amazing to watch the book sales rise with the number of media appearances Smith generated.

Jonathan Franklin, author of 438 Days: An Extraordinary True Story of Survival at Sea

For writers without an agent or publisher, so-called “indie” writers, Smith Publicity can be a very effective way to get their names into the public arena …It is then a small step to a sampling of their work and reviews at e-book sites that can give rise to a jump in sales.

Dr. Jack Winnick, author of Devil in False Colors

I enjoyed working with the Smith team on this campaign, and I was able to build on what you started to increase my ebook publicity and sales.

Jack Chaucer, author of Queens are Wild

The publicists at Smith Publicity are consummate publicity professionals … My sales ranking at Amazon.com were among the top 100 booksellers, and sales everywhere were vigorous. I recommend them highly.

What was it like to work with Smith Publicity?

I have been asked that question many times. My answer always begins with a smile. Fellow writers and aspiring authors are hoping to hear this: “It was great. I just sat back, put my feet up, and watched sales spike, and then offers started to pour in!”

Simone Mets, author of Very Christmas

Smith Publicity’s tag line needs to read, ‘we make author’s dreams come true.’ Before coming to Smith Publicity I was dead last in my category in the search engines. Because of their great work at positioning and pitching me and my book, I dominate my category on Google, Bing, and Yahoo. The links to my website from the various blogs and online publications Smith procured for me has caused a 300% increase in unique visitors, driving book sales and speaking engagements …

Smith Publicity knows this game. Within the first six months, I’ve been on national radio, primetime TV, and been written up in Forbes, USA Today, and the leading journals. Sales of my book Selling to the C-Suite spiked when Smith’s campaign started, keeping it in Amazon’s top five in-category and driving it off shelves to a second printing … I’m confident ‘The Smith Effect’ was a factor in nearly half a million dollars of new business. That’s a stellar ROI in anyone’s language.

Joining forces with Smith Publicity was the best thing that could have happened to me and my book …

The response to these took on a snowball effect, continually growing in ways I never could have imagined. The result of these interviews was not only an increased awareness for my book Acting Lions, but also increased traffic on my websites. Both websites now come up at or near the top of relevant searches, which has not only increased book sales, but cause my studio to continually flourish and grow …

… I worked with Friesenpress for about 8 months to see my book come to life extremely successfully. It was such a rush! The book was enjoying more success than expected, so why not keep it going! The FriesenPress team connected with Smith Publicity who took the book by a storm and put it on global display. Never in a million years could I have imagined working with such an incredible team, the book has been featured on dozens of sites, been discussed on a dozen radio shows, sold in not just across the US but it has reached Indonesia, China, Holland, Canada, Germany, Spain, the UK, Brazil… and all thanks to these 2 incredible teams.
